The Red Badge of Courage

The story is set during an unnamed battle of the American Civil War which bears numerous parallels to the historical Battle of Chancellorsville. 18-year-old Henry Fleming joins the Union Army despite discouragement from his mother (he has no father mentioned in the book, save that his mother says his father never drank alcohol), and becomes a private in the (fictional) 304th New York Regiment. In the weeks and days leading up to the conflict, Henry muses about whether he’ll be brave, or will turn and run. During his first battle, Confederate soldiers charge his regiment, but are repelled. A few minutes later, they regroup and attack again. This time, when Henry sees some other people running and has his own fears that the battle is a lost cause, he deserts his battalion. However, when he gets to the rear of the army, he overhears a general saying that the army won anyway, and realizes he ran for nothing, and ashamed, he spends the rest of the day away from his regiment.

King Arthur

Arhter was born with magic to king Uther and Queen Igroine ,but given to Merlin the magician who gave him to Sir Ector to
raise. He become king when he was able to pull the sword from the stone that no one else could. Then he and his knights traveled the land fighting bad men and made his country quite again.

After fighting the Saxons, returned and went to Camelot where he met Guinevere. They fall in love and were married and Camelot became the most important town in the country. Then Merlin made Arther a large round table 150 knights could sit as equal. One day. Arther met Queen Annares. When he could not stay with her, she tried to trick Sir Pellinore into killing him. Arther was hurt and asked Merlin for a powerful sword. Merlin had the lady of the lake give Arthur Excalibar with its magical scabbard.

The Name “Excalibur” was first used for King Arthur’s sword by the French Romancers. It was not the famous “Sword in the Stone” (which broke in battle), but a second sword acquired by the King through the intercession of his druidic advisor, Merddyn (Merlin). Worried that Arthur would fall in battle, Merlin took the King to a magical lake where a mysterious hand thrust itself up from the water, holding aloft a magnificent sword. It was the Lady of the Lake offering Arthur a magic unbreakable blade, fashioned by an Avalonian elf smith, along with a scabbard which would protect him as long as he wore it.
